docflow — Turn a topic into a narrated documentary for YouTube
Creates and publishes narrated YouTube documentaries from a topic, with automated scripts, images, narration, and editing.
docflow is a command-line tool that turns a topic into a short narrated documentary and publishes it on YouTube. The user answers six questions in a file: topic, style, total duration, duration of each scene, format, and references. From there, the tool prepares the script, scene images and videos, narration, and an edit with music and transitions.
For users, steps that would normally be done manually with tools such as ChatGPT, Google Flow, and CapCut are handled by docflow. Images and videos can be generated with Google Flow, automated in a browser, or with the Agnes API. Narration, editing, and publishing follow the same process with either option. The project says the Agnes engine was tested on a sample video; Flow automation is still awaiting validation of the first login.
To get started, Linux, Python, ffmpeg, and Codex are required, along with the components needed for narration and YouTube publishing. The user then fills in a file with the topic details and runs the docflow commands. Before publishing, they can review the YouTube package without sending it and watch the video; if a scene changes its historical period or architecture, they can replace it with the image, apply a slow zoom, and edit again.
