CrunchLog — Record and summarize meetings without sending data to the cloud
Records meetings on two tracks, transcribes them on the CPU, and summarizes them with Claude or Codex, with tools for Linux.
CrunchLog is a tool for recording meetings on two tracks: one captures the sound coming from the computer, and the other captures the microphone. It then transcribes the audio on the machine itself and creates a Markdown note with each person’s words identified. Recording and transcription do not require a meeting bot or send the audio to the cloud.
The note brings together a summary, decisions, tasks, open questions, and the transcript. For people using Claude Code or Codex, the program can also create summaries and answer questions about the meeting through the CLI already connected to their subscription. On Linux, transcription and the other processing features work, but recording depends on extra scripts that use PipeWire.
To get started, you need to obtain and install CrunchLog, configure the audio devices, and download the transcription models. The version described recognizes only English, and the models take up about 700 MB. Note that some features are experimental; Live mode, which is off by default, sends the audio tracks to AssemblyAI. Full privacy mode uses the “none” provider.
