rea-sem-travas: What to Do When AI Says No
A project combining an unrestricted model, a local harness, and REA to handle AI refusals.
rea-sem-travas combines three tools to study how an application works and create a version of your own: dsh, an agent that runs on your computer; an open model in Ollama configured not to refuse requests; and REA, which provides analysis tools, including integration with Ghidra for compiled applications. The guide explains the steps, limitations, and precautions for using this setup.
For people who program or study software, the idea is to investigate an application and build another one from scratch with the desired function. This lets users work locally when cloud models refuse a legitimate reverse engineering request. The example describes recreating a media player with more detailed speed controls, but the expected result is about 80% of the application, with further adjustments and testing still needed.
To get started, the guide recommends choosing a small application and one specific function, checking the computer requirements, and following the steps to configure dsh, Ollama, and REA. It is important to check that the model can use tools, ask for evidence from the analysis, and test the new version manually. The guide also advises setting time and memory limits and using the tools responsibly.
