A project for writing and testing the constitution that guides your company’s AI agents.

Constituição dos Agentes is a project that explains how to guide artificial intelligence agents when there is no ready-made rule. It presents the idea of a constitution for AI and separates what the data shows from what remains a hypothesis. It also provides a kit for companies to create their own guidelines, with a nine-section template, a completed example, a drafting prompt, test cases, and a checker.

In practice, the constitution helps define how an agent should act, what its limits are, and when it needs to ask for help. Instead of listing tasks alone, it records principles and criteria for difficult decisions. A company does not change a model’s weights by writing these guidelines: they influence its behavior during that run. The project also suggests testing the agent and revising the instructions in each cycle, while recording failures and fixes.

To get started, open the template in a text editor and fill in the sections on mission, priorities, limits, autonomy, and review. Write at least three difficult cases and explain why each decision should be made. The optional checker, which requires Python 3, points out missing sections and text that still needs to be filled in. Then test the agent with situations such as requests to ignore rules or questions with no known answer, and revise the guidelines with human oversight.
