VoiceStudio: voice cloning, dubbing, and transcription on your own computer
VoiceStudio provides local voice cloning, dubbing, and transcription as an alternative to ElevenLabs.
VoiceStudio is a free, open-source program that runs on your own computer. It can clone a voice from a short recording, create voices from a written description, dub videos, and transcribe audio in 646 languages. It is a local alternative to cloud services such as ElevenLabs.
For people who make videos, courses, podcasts, or audiobooks, the program brings several voice tasks together. Audio stays on the computer, and narration does not depend on per-minute charges. It can also separate speakers and isolate a voice from background music. Speed depends on the hardware: an NVIDIA graphics card or a Mac with Apple Silicon speeds up processing; without one, it runs on the CPU more slowly.
To get started, installers are available for Windows, macOS, and Linux x86_64. The app needs about 10 GB of free space and downloads models on first use; the initial voice-cloning model takes about 2.4 GB. The source-code setup is also an option and is the route for Linux ARM64. Since licenses vary among voice engines, check the license for the model you choose. A practical test on the server has not been done yet.
