hypit: agent recreates a viral video with speech, captions, footage, and effects
hypit recreates a viral video with speech, captions, supporting footage, and effects.
Hypit is an open-source tool that guides agents such as Claude Code and Codex in making videos. Using a reference video, the agent recreates the workflow as an editable project with speech, captions, supporting scenes, and effects. The project describes the video in a text file, and visual elements can follow the spoken words.
For people who make short videos, this makes it possible to reuse a base and create variations, such as changing the presenter, topic, or language. When the speech changes, the timing of images and captions can adjust along with it. The local test shown uses code-based animation and does not call AI services; generating images and videos with AI depends on paid services.
To get started, you need Node, pnpm, and FFmpeg installed. The guide shows a simple animation example that can be checked and rendered locally, without an API. Before trying to recreate a viral video with generated images or scenes, note that those features use paid services and require separate accounts. The license also has conditions for anyone who plans to offer Hypit as a service or resell it.
