cardshorts turns scripts into narrated short videos
The tool creates shorts narrated in your voice, with a checked transcript, word-by-word captions, and five card styles, all locally.
cardshorts is a tool that turns a script into a short vertical video, ready for Reels, Shorts, or TikTok. The script organizes each scene with a spoken line and a card, a screen with text and an image. The tool records narration with a cloned voice, checks the speech against a transcript, generates images, and assembles an MP4 with captions that follow each word. Five card styles are available.
For people who publish videos often, the process brings together steps that might otherwise require manual editing. If a spoken line differs from the script, the tool can record it again. Voice and images are cached, so when text changes, only the matching line needs to be redone. The video is limited to 30 seconds: speech can be sped up to 1.2 times, and if that still is not enough, the tool says content needs to be cut.
To get started, choose one of the five styles, create a video folder, and write one spoken line for each scene. First, generate a card preview and check that the text fits on screen and the captions do not cover the title. Then assemble the video and review the final captions. The tool runs on a computer and depends on local components for voice, transcription, images, and assembly; the guide lists what needs to be installed.
