AGI arrived and the prompt almost died – FEP 2026
News about Alibaba's Qwen open-source model for autonomous driving, presented at FEP 2026.
FEP 2026 is a course about how changes in AI models have affected the way people write instructions. It revisits techniques from the original FEP, which taught people to put the entire program inside the prompt. According to the course, some of those techniques have become crutches: newer models can already do some things on their own. The course sorts techniques into those that have lost their usefulness, those that work only in certain cases, those that remain important, and those that are new.
For people who use ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini at work, the change is learning to remove unnecessary instructions without losing what still depends on the person: defining the desired result, providing context, setting limits, and judging quality. The course teaches learners to review old prompts, create a six-part brief, and store recurring information in a context sheet or a skill, which works like a manual. It also covers how to create approval steps for an AI agent.
The course has seven lessons, each listed as 24 to 28 minutes long, and requires no installation. To begin, the source suggests choosing a real task and auditing its prompt line by line, separating what defines the destination from what merely guides the AI step by step. It is also worth observing that some techniques remain useful in specific situations; the course proposes deciding when to use them on a case-by-case basis.
