openpcbot v3 — send and receive audio on Telegram
The guide explains how to send and receive audio on Telegram, use the feature in v2, and the local plan via inemavox.
openpcbotv3 cannot yet receive or send audio through Telegram: today, it understands text messages and captions on photos or videos. The guide describes a plan to add voice messages, transcribe what a person says, and send replies as audio too. This feature is planned; it does not work in v3 yet.
In openpcbotv2, you can already send a voice message and receive a transcription, as well as a spoken reply. The `/voice` command can also turn on audio replies to typed messages. In the v3 plan, `/voz` will offer options to reply with audio only when the person sends audio, always, or never. This preference is intended to remain saved after restarts.
To use voice today, you need to talk to the v2 bot. The planned v3 implementation prioritizes local inemavox for transcription and audio generation, with Groq and ElevenLabs as alternatives. The plan also sets limits on the length of incoming audio and the amount of text spoken, and calls for tracking costs when paid services are used.
