HOLO Hands — control the screen with your hands, in Portuguese

Project that lets you control a computer interface using hand gestures, with guidance in Portuguese.

HOLO Mãos is a project that lets you control items on screen with hand gestures captured by a webcam. The page recognizes gestures such as pinching to pick up and drag cards, bringing your hands together to zoom, and making a peace sign to reset the screen. Instructions and notices are in Portuguese.

The project may be useful for giving presentations without holding a controller, for kiosks and counters where people want to avoid touching the screen, and for people with wrist pain or limited movement. The source notes that holding an arm in the air becomes tiring within minutes, so the project is not a replacement for a mouse in everyday use. Hand recognition runs in the browser, and camera images are not sent to a server.

To get started, you need Python 3, Google Chrome, and a webcam; Chrome will ask permission to use it. The guide provides commands to download the project, apply the Portuguese layer, and open the page on your computer. Good lighting facing the user helps with recognition. If you do not have a webcam, there is a demo mode with synthetic hands.
