Expedição Sul — the plan and adventure of the trip to Hua Hum
The project shows the plan and the real trip to Hua Hum, with a road closure, a closed border, and photos in 9:16 and 16:9 formats.
Expedição Sul turns three road trips through the Andes, the pampa, and Uruguay’s coast into animated map videos. They use real satellite images, show the vehicle on the road, and include details such as distance, altitude, country, and photo notes. The Hua Hum trip appears in two versions: 9:16 and 16:9. The project also shows how the animation engine works.
For viewers, the videos make it easier to follow the plan for the Hua Hum trip and what actually happened. The road was interrupted at km 32; the Taos turned back, while the Defender 110 reached the bridge over Río Hua Hum. The border was closed because of landslides. The overview map, detailed map, and photos show the route and places recorded in the travel diary.
To get started, choose a video version: 9:16 for vertical screens or 16:9 for horizontal screens. Notice how the map follows the vehicle and how details and photos appear along the route. Those interested in the technical side can view the code on GitHub; the project says the data for all three trips is already in the repository.
