cerebro-mcp – server exposing the second brain to Claude, Codex, n8n and bots
Project that makes the second brain available via an MCP server for use in Claude Code, Codex, Claude Desktop, n8n and bots.
cerebro-mcp is a server that connects the Markdown files in the astra-2cerebro kit folder to AI clients. It provides tools for Claude Code, Codex, Claude Desktop, n8n, and bots. The folder holds information such as priorities, decisions, projects, and wiki pages. The content remains in files on the computer; the server lets clients consult those files.
For users, this makes it possible to ask questions about their own context and get answers based on the files, with the path to the source. The server can search for terms, read documents, show priorities, and access wiki pages. Reading is enabled by default. Three tools for recording decisions, sources, and executions are available only when writing is enabled. Access is limited to the brain folder, and the server reads files directly from disk, without an index or database.
To get started, you need Node.js 20 or later, a brain folder with the kit’s structure, and an MCP client. The cerebro-mcp repository includes installation and setup instructions for Claude Code, Codex, and Claude Desktop. For n8n, bots, and scripts, there is also an HTTP mode that runs at a local address. Before enabling writing, note that it lets the agent save information in that folder.
