Computer Use with GPT-6 Astra: five workflows for AI to operate your computer
From spreadsheet to browser, what already works and what still needs supervision.
Computer use lets GPT-6 Astra view the screen, move the mouse, and type. This allows the AI to operate programs that have no API, connector, or MCP—a way for other systems to connect directly to software. The course covers the basics and five workflows, each with a prompt and a way to check the result.
The examples range from turning a repeated search into a command-line tool to testing an app through its interface, editing a video through delivery, and changing a setting on a phone mirrored on the computer. For people who use Codex or Claude Code, this can help them work with software that has no direct integration and reduce manual steps. Each workflow asks for evidence of completion.
To get started, the course recommends defining four points in the prompt: the exact app, the expected result, the task scope, and how to prove it is complete. It is important to inspect the interface before acting because it can change. The benchmarks mentioned do not measure performance in your app, and the model’s name does not guarantee that the tool is enabled in your account.
